Hello! My name is Lana. I am a children’s book illustrator living in Canada.

I specialize in picture books, as well as other children’s market projects, including non-fiction books, magazines, kids merchandise, social media and web illustrations, storyboarding, concept art and character design. I’ve always had a passion for visual storytelling, and I especially enjoy humor.

In my free time I like to play with my kids and spend time outdoors in the summer. The beauty of nature really inspires me.

My Education

From a young age I’ve been drawing and painting. I attended traditional art school for 5 years, where I learned various materials and techniques.

I also attended a multi-media program for 6 years, where I got to experiment with digital and mixed media arts, including animation, graphic & web design, and programs like Adobe Suite. After 20 years of experience working with Photoshop, I developed my own course.

In the past I also worked as an art teacher for children, and a painting party host for adults.

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film directing and scenography. When reading a book, I have an imaginary film or cartoon playing in my mind. This is how I visualize stories. My love of the cinematic comes through in my use of dramatic angles, lighting effects, and action scenes.
